Updated Baseball Bat Rules - PLEASE READ

CAA Baseball Families:

Recently, Metro Baseball League (MBL) and Metro Baseball Tournaments (MBT) issued revised bat rules for the upcoming 2018 baseball season.  As MBL governs league play for our 12, 13, 14, and 15 year old metro teams and MBT governs tournament play for our 9, 10, and 11 year old tournament teams, the MBL and MBT bat rules impact CAA Baseball bat rules.

The purpose of this email is to provide clarity regarding CAA bat rules for the 2018 season and tryouts/evaluations for 2018 team selection.  This set of bat rules impacts all CAA Community, Tournament, and Metro Teams ages 9-15 for league and MBT tournament play.  In other words, in order to try out and play as a member of CAA baseball in 2018 you will need to use a bat that complies with the following standards:

NEW UPDATE FROM MBL ON USA BASEBALL APPROVED BATS

Bat restrictions:  9U-14U: All bats must have the new USA stamp (unless using a -3 BBCOR bat or wood bat). 15’s can use a BBCOR bat or wood bat.

9-U, 10-U, 11-U,
12-U, 13-U

Bats must be 2 1/4" with unlimited weight differential or bats 2 5/8" and have a -11 differential or less meaning -10, -9 etc. NOT -12, -13, etc. (i.e. 31” – 20.0 oz.)

14-U
14/15A

Bats must be 2 5/8" with a -5 or less differential or a -3 BBCOR bat.

15-U

Bats must be 2 5/8” with a -3 or less differential and must be a BBCOR bat.

You can find the approved bat list from USA Baseball at https://usabat.com/

Thank you, as always, for your support and participation in CAA Baseball.

Happy Holidays!
